Richard Carpenter - Pine Needle Bear
By JustCool on May 13, 2008 in Cool Art
What do you do when you decide to be a poor country folk artist? With little money? You must be creative. Use your resources. This artist did just that. What do you find in the mountains of Idaho?……..PINE TREES. You’re thinking something made out of wood….Right? Not even close. Check out this picture. This bear is made from Pine Needles! A couple of hundred thousand of them in one large bear. The pine needles were gathered off the ground, sorted, washed, trimmed and hand woven. Over 8 months in making the life size bear. His name is Richard Carpenter, check out his website for many more bear pictures and other crafts.

Wonderful bear. And the carvings aren’t chopped liver either. Hope you get some publicity from this and get filthy rich.

Hello Richard Carpenter…
I received this wonderful e-mail from a friend, and want to say… “when God passed out talent, you were one of the lucky ones to receive it. Your work is something to be proud of, and, it shows from every detail of your art. If someone can do something as wonderful as this, then you deserve the star of exellence!
God bless you and please keep up the wonderful work,
