Staple Art of Baptiste Debombourg

Do you think the above piece of artwork is cool? What if we told you that it was created by placing staples into a wall? Are you impressed now? We sure are.

The piece is part of a series of work by French artist Baptiste Debombourg. This artist works in a variety of different mediums which include video and sculpture. However, one of his favorite things to do is to use common objects, like the staples that you see here, to create magnificent works of art. These works of art explore the connection between real life and art.

This piece is part of a series of work called Aggravure. This series incorporates a number of very powerful symbols including the Air Force One plane and the character Icarus. You may want to take the time to explore the series more in depth to consider the meaning of the work.

As for us, we’ll stick with just being impressed by the fact that this artist was able to create such a detailed, magnificent piece of work using the materials that he did. It took 35,000 staples to complete this work of art. Wow!
