Calligraphy Pen Made of Lava
By JustCool on Mar 6, 2010 in Cool Devices

It’s always exciting when someone submits a suggestion to this site for something cool that we hadn’t yet come across ourselves. That was exactly how we found out about the lava pen made by Visconti. PrinterInks.com writer Peter Lavelle turned us on to it. Here’s what he had to say about this great little product:
"The new fountain pen endures boiling liquids up to 300C, and features a palladium nib – a substitute for white gold. It contains no alloys. These traits make the Visconti lava pen a calligrapher’s dream, according to the press release."
The reason that this pen is ideal for calligraphers is because of how smoothly it writes. The unique palladium nib makes crafting a calligraphic work easy and fun. Nibs are available in a variety of different sizes ranging from extra fine to stub. The item itself is available as a fountain pen or as a pencil. This means that you can do many different types of calligraphy writing with this product. And, of course, if you have a collection of pens then this will be a great addition to it since a pen made from lava is not something that you come across every day.
Unfortunately, this pen is going to be out of the price range of most people. It retails for nearly $600. It’s definitely a luxury item. It’s a nice treat for someone who can afford that luxury, though.
