Mark Cuban on Bill O’Reilly, Dancing With The Stars and Investments

We attended BlogWorld in Las Vegas last week, and one of the highlights was listening to Mark Cuban’s closing keynote.  He spoke on a variety of subjects including, Bill O’Reilly, Dancing with the Stars, his favorite investments and of course his blogs.

Cuban talked about how he’d like nothing more than to use his blog to fight his critics, including O’Reilly. "Once you start using a blog as a baseball bat, things start to get really, really different," Cuban cautioned about 500 of us bloggers.

Evidently O’Reilly has been critical of Cuban over the release of the upcoming movie Redacted. The film is from Cuban’s company 2929 Entertainment and focuses on what life is like for some American soldiers fighting the war in Iraq. "This guy’s never seen the movie," Cuban says of O’Reilly, "but he’s out there saying ‘Mark Cuban if you release this movie, I’m coming after you.’" Cuban, told us "at the same time, there is every bit of me that just wants to say ‘Bill O’Reilly is a moron.’"

Mark said the attacks are "irrelevant" from a business perspective but adds, for "a small movie, he’s making it bigger and bigger by the day. So I’m really grateful to him. Bill O’Reilly’s my new best friend."

Mark also couldn’t resist the temptation to mention Dancing with the Stars several times.  You could tell it bothered him to lose, and he thrives on the world-wide attention.  He even talked about how he used Facebook to try to solicit more votes.

Mark also shared with us the two companies he would love to buy.  And, he confessed he can’t afford either one of them. One was Facebook. The other was Verizon.   Facebook is hot and has a huge audience so no surprise there.  But Verizon?  From Mark’s talk, it was clear he sees immense value in the pipes bringing high-speed data into the home.

But the best part of all was his nagging regret that the Mavs could not keep Steve Nash.  Now that’s just cool.  Go Suns!
