<description>My first reaction was how can a mother let that happen to her child. But after reading the complete article I now ask myself, how can a society, their neighbors, let a situation get so out of hand without reaching out to help, or get help for such an obviously helpless and out of control family.
By nature I am against big government and overly nosy neighbors, but we have a responsibility to be our brothers keeper. the easy answer is to say hang the mother, but I think if blame is to be constructive as a result of this unbelievable story it should lie with the society that let it happen.
And the example set by Dani's new parents should be a lesson for all of us. We are our brothers keeper.
