Eliot Spitzer Baseball Promotion
By JustCool on Mar 15, 2008 in Cool Sports
Baseball isn’t always enough to keep fans coming in the minors, so you could always depend on some wacky and fun promotions, like the time the Phoenix Firebirds gave away nine cars, one at the end of each inning. So what if the cars were beaters, they all ran, passed emissions and had clear titles. It was better than a bobblehead.
Of course, the Major Leagues have their own cool promotions, but only in the minor leagues could you get something like this:
The Macon (Ga.) Music of the South Coast League announced this week that they will play host to Eliot Spitzer Night on June 13 in honor of New York’s soon-to-be-ex-governor who was hooked in a prostitution ring.
Appropriately, the Music are playing the Aiken Foxhounds that night.
According to the Macon Telegraph, the team plans to invite Spitzer to throw out the first pitch. Who knows? Maybe he’ll show up. It might be the only work he can get.
Anyway, even if Spitzer doesn’t make it, the team still plans to:
• Give away a trip to Washington with a one-night stand, uh, stay at the now-infamous Renaissance Mayflower Hotel.
• Admit "Client 9" - the ninth fan to arrive at the ballpark - free and give him or her a prize package.
• Give a $1 discount to anybody named "Eliot," "Spitzer" or "Kristen" and to any fans from New York or anybody who has resigned from his or her job. So, pretty much everybody gets a dollar off.
• Give a team-store gift certificate to the 871st fan (for the Mayflower room number).
• Provide ATMs in the ballpark that will be available for cash withdrawals not to exceed $5,000 per hour.
No word on whether everybody gets free minibar privileges or if they’ll be asked to leave $4,300 on the bed.

When does “Kristen” go public with Eliot’s favorites from her “buffet of fun loving?”
