Ixquick a Ratings Based Search Engine
By JustCool on Sep 21, 2007 in Cool Companies, Cool Websites

This is for all you geeks out there. An article about a pretty cool search engine called ixquick. Now all of us know Google is the king of search engines. Heck a lot of people think it is the only search engine. But there are actually lots of companies working hard to dethrone the king.
Ixquick.com search engine submits your search request to 14 search engines and the results are ranked according to a “star” ranking system.
While the ranking may not appear any different from what other search engines have to offer, ixquick includes several other search options that a user might like (Boolean logic, phrases, wild cards, and field searches). They also have a phone directory search, image search, and the shopping comparison search
Ixquick uses a star ranking system to rate the results. Each result gets a “star” if it is one among the top ten results in one of the major engines. Each search engine has its own database and ranking methodology and the star rating does get the relevant links to come through from the wide array of results. Duplicates are removed from the search results.
Another eason why we like ixquick is their adoption of user privacy concerns and the deletion of the search records for users. Give it a try.
